Coffee Slips Amid Outlook for Improving Brazil Crop Conditions

(Bloomberg) — Arabica coffee for March delivery falls 1% to $1.2315/lb in New York.

 

* Futures rose 7.4% last wk, biggest gain for most-active contract since Aug. 14

* Robusta coffee for Jan. delivery fell 1.2% to $1,553/mt in  London

* Brazil coffee areas will get avg 30-70mm of rain through to Nov. 27, forecaster Somar wrote in e-mailed report Monday

* Widespread rains to maintain sufficient moisture for cherry growth in southern, western Minas Gerais, Parana this wk, MDA Weather Services said Friday

* “There is more than sufficient coffee available to the consumer markets for the short to medium term,” Johannesburg-based coffee trader I&M Smith wrote

* Raw sugar for March delivery fell 0.3% to 15.26c/lb in New York

* White sugar for March delivery rose 0.4% to $411.60/mt in London

* Cocoa for March delivery fell 1.2% to $3,329/t in New York; London contract for same mo. dropped 0.7% to GBP2,274/t
